In recent years, online platforms have been increasingly used to promote the unauthorized use of copyright-protected material. Copyright violations can be found in a variety of contexts, ranging from illegal live streaming of sporting events to online advertising of counterfeit luxury goods.

Efficient fight against illegal use of copyright-protected material frequently relies on actions taken by copyright holders, who can approach online service providers (OSP) and request illegally used content to be removed. The Digital Service Act provides OSPs with safe harbour protection; thus, the copyright infringement notice is frequently the most effective tool for drawing attention to a potential violation, removing any illegal content, and informing law enforcement agencies about a potential criminal offense. This flyer aims to provide the steps required to submit a copyright infringement notice successfully, as well as an overview of the requirements set for the content of this notice.
